SSPTA for Windows User's Guide
SSPTA (Simplified Systems Payload Thermal Analyzer) -
Many of the programs that now constitute SSPTA were originally developed at
NASA's Goddard Space
Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. In the late 70's, Arthur D. Little, Inc.
was brought under contract to merge the
individual programs into a complete thermal analysis system called the Space
Shuttle Thermal Analyzer (SSPTA). This program
computes radiation exchange factors, shadow factors, environmental heat loads, and also
includes a rudimentary thermal network analyzer that can compute solutions for both
steady-state and transient problems. Recognizing the diverse application
capability of the software in the late 80's Nicholas
Teti, founder of Nicosoft Technologies, ported SSPTA
to the MS-DOS and then MS-Windows platform and renamed the program Simplified
Systems Payload Thermal Analyzer. The resulting product, SSPTA for Windows, is commercially available
and includes an interactive model builder and post-processing tools not found in the
original NASA version.
